You’ve probably seen ads from this place because they’re everywhere. They’re always of some interesting classic in dubious condition sitting in a white void with what seems like an absurd price. I don’t know anything about the sales experience with these guys, but they were honest eno ugh with me about one car I can’t get out of my mind. The cars don’t get any less questionable in person, but I have to say, this is one of the most fascinating car dealer spaces I’ve ever been in. They have an incredible variety of rare and interesting cars most in a state that would make you want to run away screaming. I mean, there are what can only be described as derelicts. But, of amazing cars. Some with sold stickers.

Jobjoris and I paid them a visit a couple weeks ago and were agog at what we found.

This Ghibli is in near mint shape in the world of the Beverly Hills Car Club. I’d say it’s only been sitting for +/- 5 years.

Those and this Pantera were in the good room.

The warehouse in back is where the really fun stuff is.

A goddam herd of dusty E-Types.

This one has a few more issues:

That’s still a rare car that I guess if it has a VIN plate, is worth restoring in some fashion.

That thing started life as a 1962 Maserati 3500. Not much of the Maserati is left as you can see as it now has a less than flattering fiberglass body, and a rear end and motor out of a Chevy.

That is one of the most mind-boggling cars I have ever seen. It was once a 1956 Fiat Abarth 750 Zagato “Double Bubble” and now it’s a work of art. Well, it was always a work of art, actually, but now it’s a different kind of art. At some point, a Corvair transaxle with cus tom cut gears and a Buick V8 were shoved in and this little car became an ice racer on Big Lake Alaska. It was actually featured on Bring a Trailer last year when it was on eBay for $300,000. You read that correctly. The owner who ice raced it had two 250TR Ferrari T estarossas that he also raced on the lake, but apparently they didn’t live as hard a life as the Abarth. He also claimed this was the 750 that won the Mille Miglia which would make its fate even more unfortunate, but I don’t know if that claim was ever substantiated. I can’t imagine BHCC got it for anywhere near that eBay price as they’ve seemingly moved it.

That’s the one I want to bring home. I know I shouldn’t, but it’s one of my (admittedly many) dream cars. A Glas 1700 GT. Yeah, it’s in dodgy condition. There’s rust, but they all have rust. Their bodies were built by Frua in Italy and then shipped to Germany where they were finished at the Glas factory. But, they were literally rusty by the time they got there, so you’ll never find a completely clean one. It also has an automatic transmission that may have been added later. Glas never made a GT with an auto as far as anyone knows, but it’s possible this was a special order for America because the 1700 sedan got an automatic, so it could be an original Glas unit. T hese cars are really rare and special. BMW even kept building them after acquiring Glas, but I prefer these original Glas cars without the pasted on kidney grille . So awesome. I nearly plotzed when I saw it. It’s got a nice bird’s nest of wires too, and I have no room for it, but I want it anyway.

I’m still not 100% certain I’d buy a car from these guys, but it’s a really entertaining place to visit.

An an added bonus, on the way home, we spotted this poor Renault Dauphine sitt ing in the weeds outside a little bodega. The owner says it runs, so I told him I expec t to see him driving it next time I’m in the neighborhood.

Man, that looks like an awesome place! Some cars definitely look like they are way to far gone though. (Apart from the Abarth, that looks perfect as it is)

Damn years of looking at their website I never thought to stop there. I should do that

You found that Ponton coupe, nice.

Something fascinating about cars in this state of decay, many of them I’d just want mechanically sorted and would drive them otherwise as-is.

It’s worth it. That place is like an amusement park for car lovers. Although you can’t go on the rides.

Now about that Glas...

I nearly plotzed when I saw it.

I think that was a joint effort. I remember spotting it at about the same time as you. It was as if time stood still from that moment on...

This visit I will remember for quite some time. I ho pe yo u’ll get that Glas and I hope, next time I’m over for coffee again, we’ll do the BHCC again!!!

Haha. That’s my new favorite gif. He’s really going for it.

Yeah, we were simultaneously gobsmacked. Like when we saw the Alpines at Autoworld. I was speechless for a second before I comprehended what I was looking at.

For sure! This is definitely a place I want to visit regularly. It’s a wonderland.

I like the way the cut off that scene with the Isetta . Now we don’t know if he crashed into those t raffic cones or not.

We do think/feel alike a lot. I better not let you near Krista too much.

He looks like an expert Isetta pilot. I imagine all cones were left standing.

Haha. You have nothing to worry about. I don’t have your Dutch constitution to handle her.

I imagine him crashing into those cones and into a wall. That would generate so much more likes. It’s all about likes nowadays, remember?

No one has...

I think he’d get more death threats from rivals jealous of his magnificence in that clip.

The police should be able to take the guilty rival in easily as there can’t be too many with these kind of skills!

No, but I was once driving one with this German guy who is like the world’s foremost Isetta expert. He may even have worked for BMW, or something. Anyway, he told me to “take it easy” at one point.

All that training by Lenny clearly resulted in God-like racing/driving skills. Better call Newman/Haas!

You saw how I handled 5 cylinders on Angeles Crest. Imagine what I can do with just 1. I can’t wait to get the LNA up there. If Newman still raced Datsuns, I’d be there.

Watch out for that Camaro/Challenger/Charger dude up there . He’ll crash into you without any fear. Or knowledge.

Totally. He wouldn’t even know I was there. Kind of like how we treated him when he showed up to Newcomb’s Ranch.

Ah. And, I’m sure word got back to Myron since we know you were being surveilled.

Speaking of which, Jason is clearly monitoring Instagram now. Right after you posted a Slantnose, he posts this:

Pretty much saying verbatim your bit about the loophole.
